The Lord Kitchener Pub on New Barnet High Street, London, has joined forces with parking management company, Creative Car Park, to provide a parking solution to their ongoing parking issues. Following several complaints by regular customers over lack of available spaces, with some cars being double and triple parked, and a serious parking incident occurring on the pub’s parking premises earlier in the year, ANPR cameras (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) have now been installed to prevent non-patrons from abusing the car park.
The McMullens pub is a popular haunt for locals, serving a selection of ales and good quality pub food. However, regulars at the “Kitch”, as it is affectionately known to locals, say they are finding it increasingly difficult to park at the pub, as its free parking is being increasingly utilised by local residents visiting other nearby shops and restaurants on the high street.
Those entering the pub will now be asked to key in their car registration number to a touch-screen keypad located inside, which will then entitle them to park for as long as they are using the Lord Kitchener Facilities.
This is the second contract in conjunction with McMullens which has been awarded to Creative Car Park, due to the company’s experience in adapting management systems to the bespoke needs of individual sites. A spokesperson for Creative says “We already successfully manage the parking facilities at another McMullens public house which used to experience similar issues to that of the Lord Kitchener. This pub simply does not have the capacity to provide unlimited free parking to the local community as well as its patrons, especially when a consequence is likely to be reduced trade as customers are discouraged by the lack of parking.”
To date, management at the pub are said to be extremely pleased with the results, which they hope in the long term will lead to increased turnover and a happier customer experience.
