The Hyde car park behind the popular fast food chain KFC in Barnet, London NW9, has enlisted the help of leading car management company, Creative Car Park, in a bid to control the number of non-diners using the car park, causing a drop in sales.
Management staff of the popular restaurant noticed a significant drop in sales in conjunction with a lack of availability in their privately owned car park. The car park, which has always been free to park, is being used increasingly by parents dropping off or collecting children from the nearby school and also by local shoppers.
In a bid to combat the problem, the car park will now be managed using Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology via Creative Car Park. The car park will entitle patrons to park for 90 minutes maximum stay with a no return policy.
The contract was awarded to Creative Car Park due to the company’s experience in adapting established parking management systems to the bespoke needs of individual sites. A spokesperson for Creative explained “We believe that substantial car parking provision is key to footfall for retailer. If people can’t park easily, they will simply go elsewhere. Having integrated new parking facilities in numerous car parks up and down the country, we know the positive impact that introducing properly enforced restrictions can have in terms of plentiful and convenient parking for motorists. Since launching at the beginning of the month, we have already had a very encouraging response from the restaurant management team.”
The new ANPR system will identify vehicles when they enter and leave the car park to ensure those parking are genuine visitors to KFC.
