With no parking meters in sight, the borough strengthens its ticketless car park management through ANPR trial.
The London Borough of Bexley prides itself on its ticketless parking, in which parking meters are a thing of the past; thus deciding to launch an ANPR (Automated Number Plate Recognition) trial next to Bexley train station.
BemroseBooth Mobile, the “Phone and Pay” parking provider in the borough, joins forces with Creative Car Park to further enhance parking facilities. The installed ANPR system monitors the car park where motorists can pay for parking using the “Phone and Pay” service or a Pay and Display machine.
Alun Marks, spokesperson for Creative Car Park says “The council wants to get the best use out of its parking and our reporting facilities are extremely useful when implementing parking restrictions. The fact that they [the London Borough of Bexley’] can monitor key aspects such as parking patterns, length of stay and the efficiency of Civil Enforcement Officers was a deciding factor when choosing us as their natural partner. We have been working closely with BemroseBooth Mobile to ensure that the council’s needs are met in the same way as BemroseBooth Mobile has done and we envisage that the trial will be a success in enabling Bexley’s parking facilities to run more smoothly and efficiently in the future.”
Additionally, a BemroseBooth Mobile spokesman commented “Our “Phone and Pay” service is expanding rapidly with an increasing number of UK councils wishing to remove the complete use of Pay and Display machines enabling quick and easy parking payments for motorists. Our partnership with Creative has shown potential and existing clients how flexible we are in terms of offering a car park management service to fit all.”
